PushPush Theater 121 New Street East Decatur Station (near Avondale Marta) www.pushpushtheater.com The Mission Statement Dailies, in association with PushPush Theater, unites filmmakers to explore their craft through community and creation. We challenge film artists of all disciplines to focus on process as the result. Great work evolves from experimentation, practice, and finally understanding. By creating a safe place to fail, and focusing on process over product and collaboration over isolation, Dailies is where one finds a voice - not simply to display it, but to nurture and develop its existence. We are here to learn, grow, and play as a means to master our skills. We offer our work to the world as a byproduct of our mission. The Concept Dailies will host four or more quarterly filmmaking challenges each year with a central theme, image, story idea, style/genre, or other set of "rules" that unifies all the work. This concept is not meant to be a gimmick or hook; instead, it is designed to focus on the creative process and to push artists into areas their individual non-Dailies work may not typically take them. Each challenge will include a comprehensive project manifesto declaring its purpose and method for creation. A project point producer will organize filmmakers and manage the overall scope of the challenge. Each filmmaker will create a piece of work utilizing any means necessary to fulfill their vision of the challenge at hand. By engaging in workshops, discussions, and work-in-progress screenings with group analysis, filmmakers will partake in a collaborative process aimed at developing their skills and the skills of those around them. Upon completion, the films will be publicly screened as a Dailies project. We will meet at the CORNER PUB from 7:30 - 8:30 to chat and talk "business," then we'll move over to PushPush for the screen. So, again, the first part of the meeting will be at CORNER PUB, then it's on to PushPush. See ya'll then. We will update you on Dogme, formally sign people up for the next challenge - The PSA Project and discuss the upcoming challenge - Catme (for the DP in you). Then we break for 10 minutes... 8:30 Screening We are screening the Academy Award winning short film "The Accountant" starring its director Ray McKinnon and Walt Goggins of "The Shield" fame. JD Taylor, Board member and DGA AD, worked on this film and will discuss how the strength of the script lured him to working on the project for free and tell stories about what it was like to work with the boys. AND CONGRATS to DAILIES FILMMAKERS for THE SIGNAL, which will get it's world premiere at SUNDANCE!!!!!!! All three directors have been with Dailies since the beginning and idea for The Signal stemmed from the as yet unfinished "Exquisite Corpse" Dailies challenge. The cast and crew, for the most part, was made up entirely of Dailies folks. DAILIES is not just for writer/directors....it's for filmmakers - actors, producers, art directors, editors, artists, grips, electrics and wannabes. Come see why this organization has been so successful...in 4 years, Dailies directors, actors and crew have created over 100 short films and 3 features. Many shorts have gone on to premiere at Festivals and all 3 features have had major festival and distribution success.
