We're in the organizing and interstitializing phase... so exactly when we watch ween isn't exactly known. If you did the work and missed the deadline and have something to submit, i'm not an ogre. In fact, my prices are quite reasonable... i may be lured out to carroll street cafe and bribed with an espresso. Do call (404.697.3238) and let me know quickly, as we've got a good show's worth of stuff in hand already. Ween work begins in earnest Tuesday day. Also! We're trying something mildly ambitious august 5 - We hope it will be a full evening for Push-Push, and fun for us all... There will be special guests. The Dailies screening will be followed by about an hour of open discussion. @ 10:30pm, Collective Works spectacular 5th and final in a series of one-shot episodes airs: "Invisible College: Apocalypse Dao!" Those attending the Dailies and staying for "Apocalypse Dao!" will get a discount. This will not only be a chance to see a lotta newstuff from new faces but it will also be an opportunity to support and make the acquaintence of some of the actors interested in you and your dailies projects. otherwise, i'll let you know what's happening as soon as i make it up. until then, - william -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Aug. 5th Message-ID: Hey maverick filmmakers- As you may or may not know, Dailies board member Robert Sanders also is the co-producing artistic director of the Savage Tree Arts Project, a multidisciplinary school and performance group. In December, Savage Tree is partnering with Push Push to bring a month-long festival of art & performance to New Street. The way we program the festivals is invite everyone out to a potluck where we eat, drink, socialize and brainstorm about what would be cool to do that relates in some way to the festival?s theme. The December festival?s theme is HOLIDAY/FAMILY. The Potluck will be at Push Push, Sat. Aug. 5th at 4 p.m. Consider yourselves invited. Since Dailies is the in-house filmmaker?s collective and you usually create many films inspired by a single theme, we think it would be great to either have a Dailies ?Holiday/Family? film series screen during the festival, or have individual artists involved in collaborating with some of the Savage artists. For example, I know we?ve got dancers, musicians and playwrights who would love pushing the envelope with other media, or if you?ve always wanted to do a video installation, this would be a great venue for it. Savage Tree?s open to everyone and anyone who?s got a vision they can commit to gets a place on the festival?s roster. So if this peaks your interest, please come out to the potluck. If you are unfamiliar with us and what we do, you can read up on us at http://www.savagetree.org. And feel free to forward this invitation to your friends ? our festivals are a great place to try new things and new forms. Message-ID: Hello dailies everyone! Due to conflicts of time and space, the ween screening has been pushed back. There are quite a few submissions to reckon with and we're going to try to get the good word of the Dailies out there in a timley fashion. My personal and sincere apologies if this has caused any problems. On a lighter note, there will now be 3 ween screenings - one a week, saturdays. So... as things stand now, Ween Dailies will screen Sat the 12th Aug, Sat the 19th Aug, Sat the 26th Aug. the exact times have not been fixed yet, but we're thinking 8pm. depending on how long the whole show goes. best to all, and all apologies once again. -william -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... (this is supposed to be a mail-list for discussion, not official dailies business... right?) The question on the table was (approximately): "Are all the [Ween] showings going to show all the films, or will it be split up over the days?" a simple enough question. My personal answer: we haven't made any official decisions on that yet... But i'm pretty positive that Ween is going to do what dailies normally does (correct me if i'm wrong) and that is to run all the films all in a preset "show" - with the same "show" each time. (primarily to be polite for those who might not make it on any given day, it also allows us all to see everyone's work in one sitting...) The interesting point would be, for me, to see a time when *_so_* much amazing content is submitted, that the nature of the films and length of the sum would impact the nature of the show itself... provoking its own structure - a little game within a game. As far as Ween goes, we do have some interesting complications to deal with (please keep them in mind for talk-back points, public or private) for example, tim habeger has a great one - how does one format the showing of a series of shorts, giving time and opportunity for absorbtion and meaningful talk-back without overwhelming the audience... (accounting for short attention spans, sequence of content...) When should talkback actually take place in this format - for dailies - to make a show the best possible interaction i'm leaving that decision to the wisdom of dan bush... but it does raise some interesting points... best to all. -wm
